I hope you have all had a good holiday season and are getting through this mild winter as best you can. The Bar is doing well. Even though sales are a little down, Patti, the Bar Committee Chairman and the Bar Committee, and Julie, the Bar Manager, have done a great job reducing expenses and making a good profit. If we ever get some snow, be sure to stop by on your snowmobile at the bar to warm up. Thank you to all the volunteers that have been helping around the bar. It makes all the difference.
The Coal City FPA proposed expansion has received an overwhelming positive response in favor of it. There are still some that do not want to be included and all of the comments both for and against will be forwarded to Coal City, and then they will decide what they want to do. Remember that the IEPA makes the decision on FPA boundaries and they have specific criteria they follow.
Thanks to Tony in getting our weed contracts for the year completed. The weed contract cost is about 40% lower this year. If only the weeds and Mother Nature would work with us every year we could keep this cost down.
There have been a lot of burglaries locally and advice from the police and crooks is to have dead bolt locks and use them, also keep an eye out for each other.
There are a couple rule changes I want to mention. Car decals went from $10 to $15 each and the limit went from two to four. If you want more than the normal two then you will have to provide registrations for all car decals. This is to ensure only our members get access to our facilities. Another rule change was to move our storage area dates from ending January 1st to ending April 1st. This was to make the storage area rental follow the seasons instead of the rental time running out in the middle of winter.
Thanks again to all our volunteers. Money is a necessity to be a really effective association, but volunteerism and commitment to a task are our most valuable assets.
Thanks,
Brian Johnson
