Fish Committee Report Spring and the arrival of the new fishing season has arrived. Everyone please review fishing regulations and remember limits listed on signs are per family or membership per day. These limits were put in place with the help of the IDNR and reflect the management stategy for our lakes. Over harvesting will affect the fish populations so follow all regulations. Last year the IDNR surveyed all three lakes using the electrical shocking method. With data collected our regions fishery biologist presents a scientific report on overall fish populations and health in all species sampled. The fish committee uses this information along with on the water observations to decide on which fish to stock every year. In the report no crappie were represented in any of the lakes. As a result all lakes will be stocked with crappie this year. In addition Beaver and Lincoln lakes will be stocked with red ear sunfish with Goose lake not needing any additional red ears as stated in the fish report. Lastly, all three lakes will recieve stockings of fathead minnows. Last year we started a structure committee in response to the loss of habitat in the form of weeds. We have had about 35 pine shipping boxes donated to be used as fish cribs to aid in providing cover for fish. These fish cribs are built very strong and will last for many years. HELP is needed to place fish cribs!! If anyone is interested please call me. Additionally, we will be having five bass fishing tournaments on Lincoln Lake this year. These events are very lo-key and a lot of fun! Have a safe and fun season on the water! Thanks, Nick Conner Fish Committee Chairman
