IMPORTANT NOTICE - GLA Rule Change Approved 1/26/09

The Goose Lake Association Board of Directors has approved a rule change to SECTION 6.1: MARKINGS. This change was approved as a result of several joint meetings and a recommendation by both the Goose Lake Association and Lincoln Lake Estates Watercraft Review Committees to implement common guidelines for the placement of the required association decals, lake & lot numbers, and State of Illinois registration decals and numbers for all watercraft using the Goose Lake Association waterways. This common rule which has been adopted by both home owner associations is an effort to give added flexibility due to different watercraft designs and will improve the ability to identify watercraft that should or should not be on our waterways. Listed below is a copy of the approved rule changes which have been highlighted and underlined in bold text. Please save a copy of this rule change for your records.

Section 6.1:

Markings: All watercraft will have the proper Goose Lake Association identification (lake/lot) numbers and current year decals affixed to both the port (left side of watercraft) and starboard side (right side of watercraft) nearest to the rear. GLA decals and lot numbers should not be placed any farther forward than mid-point of the watercraft and should be well above the waterline so that they are in plain view. Watercraft having side facing windshields on both (port & starboard) sides of the watercraft can display current GLA decal and lot number on side windshields only if this can be done without obstructing the drivers vision. In addition, the Illinois State Registration Numbers and current year decals are required on both the port and starboard side of the watercraft nearest the front. Goose Lake Association identification numbers and Illinois State registration numbers should be of block characters at least 3 inches in height and in contrasting color to their background. Failure to display two (2) identically numbered decals and proper lot numbers on each and all watercraft will result in a fine as stated in Section 6.13: Boat Fines, Penalties, and Violations. Expired Goose Lake Association and Illinois State decals should not be visibly displayed.
